FI Highlights Justice Concerns in United Kingdom
FI submitted a joint-written report for the Universal Periodic Review of the United Kingdom (UK) to be held at the United Nations, Geneva, in May/June 2012. The submission addresses the UK Government’s use of public policy to enforce destitution of asylum seekers whose asylum claims have been rejected by the UK Border Agency (UKBA).
FI’s recommendations include, amongst others, that the UK Government provides asylum seekers, whose applications have been rejected and are awaiting their return, access to financial support, accommodation, health care and legal aid.
