FI Speaks at French SFO Assise
"Building Together With Our Brothers" was the title of the assembly of French fraternities in Nantes, France, 14-17 July 2011, where approximately 250 delegates of the secular Franciscan family gathered together. There they shared a time filled with reflection, relaxation, and fellowship, which served to strengthen their bonds with one another.
In a desire to collaborate with the Franciscan family in France, Franciscans International accepted an invitation to share its mission with the assembly. Sister Odile Coirier fmm, FI Advocacy Officer, delivered a presentation on the the work of FI with and and on behalf of the Franciscans at the United Nations. She outlined the countries and themes that FI's focuses on including human trafficking, the environment, extreme poverty, and the mistreatment of the elderly (a subject which particularly touches France).
