Event in New York

Fl and the Migrant Center host an event on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Dear Sisters, Brothers, Friends, and Colleagues,

We wish to invite you to an event on the migration crisis, hosted by the Migrant Center at the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi and sponsored by Franciscans International.

This event will feature Ramon Marquez of La 72, Hogar-Refugio Para Personas Migrantes in Tenosique, Tabasco, Mexico and Eleanor Acer, Senior Director of Refugee Protection at Human Rights First, and other human rights advocates.  

Ramon Marquez is in New York accepting an award on behalf of Fray Tomás Gonzáles Castillo, OFM, who is being awarded an award from Human Rights First for his work in advocating for migrants and refugees.  Fray Tomás, who funded La 72, Hogar-Refugio Para Personas Migrantes, was also recently honored as a runner up for the Nansen Refugee Award in Geneva.
