\u00dcberall auf der Welt engagieren sich Menschen f\u00fcr den Schutz und die F\u00f6rderung der Menschenrechte. Einige konzentrieren sich auf ein bestimmtes Thema, wie das Recht auf Wasser<\/a> oder extreme Armut<\/a>, andere arbeiten mit bestimmten Gruppen wie Frauen<\/a>, Kindern<\/a>, indigenen V\u00f6lkern<\/a> oder Migranten und Fl\u00fcchtlingen<\/a>. Sie k\u00f6nnen einzeln oder gemeinsam mit anderen, beruflich oder nicht beruflich und auf vielf\u00e4ltige Weise t\u00e4tig sein: zum Beispiel durch das Sammeln und Verbreiten von Informationen, durch Lobbyarbeit auf lokaler, nationaler und internationaler Ebene oder durch die Unterst\u00fctzung von Opfern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ob sie es wissen oder nicht, ihr Beitrag zu W\u00fcrde und Gerechtigkeit durch friedliches Handeln macht sie zu Menschenrechtsverteidigern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Menschenrechtsverteidiger (HDR) spielen eine wichtige Rolle in unseren Gesellschaften. Sie sind ma\u00dfgeblich an der Umsetzung unserer Grundrechte beteiligt, was bedeutet, dass ihre Arbeit uns allen zugute kommt. Ihre Arbeit ist jedoch nicht unproblematisch, und wenn sie sich f\u00fcr mehr Gerechtigkeit einsetzen, setzen sie sich auch dem Risiko aus, schikaniert, mit dem Tod bedroht und auf andere Weise eingesch\u00fcchtert zu werden. Das gro\u00dfe Ausma\u00df der Drohungen und Repressalien gegen Menschenrechtsverteidiger veranlasste die UN-Generalversammlung 1998, die Erkl\u00e4rung \u00fcber Menschenrechtsverteidiger zu verabschieden<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zum ersten Mal wurde der wesentliche Beitrag von Menschenrechtsverteidigern zur Gesellschaft anerkannt, und gleichzeitig wurde ihr Recht auf Schutz anerkannt. In der Erkl\u00e4rung hei\u00dft es eindeutig, dass Menschenrechtsverteidiger das Recht haben, die Menschenrechte zu verteidigen, sich frei mit anderen zusammenzuschlie\u00dfen, Menschenrechtsverletzungen zu dokumentieren und Schutz durch die UN und regionale Mechanismen zu erhalten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Da am 9. Dezember 2023 der 25. Jahrestag der Erkl\u00e4rung begangen wird, wollen wir die Frauen und M\u00e4nner der franziskanischen Familie, die sich in verschiedenen Regionen der Welt f\u00fcr die Achtung der grundlegenden Menschenrechte einsetzen, n\u00e4her beleuchten. Die franziskanischen Werte der gleichen W\u00fcrde, des Friedens und der Sorge f\u00fcr die gesamte Sch\u00f6pfung stehen im Mittelpunkt ihres Engagements. In dieser Serie konzentrieren wir uns auf die Schwestern und Br\u00fcder, die sich an vorderster Front f\u00fcr marginalisierte Gemeinschaften und Bev\u00f6lkerungsgruppen einsetzen, deren elementarste Rechte verletzt werden.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Um Mary Lawlor, Sonderberichterstatterin f\u00fcr die Situation von Menschenrechtsverteidigern, zu zitieren: \u201eMenschenrechtsverteidiger sind gew\u00f6hnliche Menschen, die au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnliche Dinge tun\u201c. In diesem Sinne passen viele Franziskaner perfekt auf diese Definition \u2013 echte Menschenrechtsverteidiger, die sich f\u00fcr eine bessere Zukunft einsetzen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
