Franciscans International celebra el apoyo de 161 Estados a esta resoluci\u00f3n, que afirma que un medio ambiente sano es, de hecho, un derecho humano que debe protegerse y garantizarse a todos sin discriminaci\u00f3n. Se trata de un paso importante hacia el fortalecimiento de los esfuerzos internacionales y nacionales para ayudar a preservar el medio ambiente en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abEl reconocimiento universal de un medio ambiente limpio, sano y sostenible ofrece una respuesta poderosa y eficaz que esperamos catalice cambios transformadores en nuestras sociedades, entre otras cosas generando un cambio de paradigma de lo que debe ser nuestra relaci\u00f3n con el medio ambiente y los ecosistemas\u00bb, declar\u00f3 la Embajadora de Costa Rica, Maritza Chan Valverde, que present\u00f3 la resoluci\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n expres\u00f3 la esperanza de que el reconocimiento universal contribuya a mejorar los resultados medioambientales de los Estados que ya han consagrado este derecho en su legislaci\u00f3n nacional y proporcione un punto de partida para los cambios constitucionales y legislativos en los Estados que no lo han hecho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con su decisi\u00f3n, la Asamblea General tambi\u00e9n <a href=\"https:\/\/franciscansinternational.org\/blog\/two-landmark-decisions-on-the-environment-at-the-united-nations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reafirm\u00f3 una resoluci\u00f3n<\/a> de octubre de 2021 del Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU, que reconoci\u00f3 formalmente por primera vez este derecho a nivel internacional. Sin embargo, al ser la Asamblea General el \u00fanico \u00f3rgano de la ONU en el que todos los Estados miembros tienen igual representaci\u00f3n, la votaci\u00f3n de hoy tiene un significado adicional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abEsta decisi\u00f3n es verdaderamente hist\u00f3rica. Sin embargo, tambi\u00e9n llega con mucho retraso y en un momento en el que todas las se\u00f1ales de alarma est\u00e1n en rojo y nos estamos quedando r\u00e1pidamente sin opciones para evitar una cat\u00e1strofe medioambiental mundial\u00bb, declar\u00f3 Sandra Epal-Ratjen, Directora de Incidencia Internacional de FI. \u00abAhora es innegable que el derecho a un medio ambiente limpio, sano y sostenible es un derecho humano que debe ser disfrutado por todos. Tras esta votaci\u00f3n, todos los Estados deben comprometerse a hacerlo realidad\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El reconocimiento del derecho a un medio ambiente sano llega tras una larga y sostenida <a href=\"https:\/\/franciscansinternational.org\/blog\/working-toward-environmental-justice-at-the-united-nations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">campa\u00f1a internacional<\/a> de defensa por parte de amplias coaliciones y sigue a los llamamientos de <a href=\"https:\/\/franciscansinternational.org\/blog\/the-time-is-now-recognize-the-right-to-a-safe-clean-healthy-and-sustainable-environment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">m\u00e1s de 1.350 organizaciones<\/a> de la sociedad civil, pueblos ind\u00edgenas, movimientos sociales y comunidades locales. La decisi\u00f3n de la Asamblea General tambi\u00e9n env\u00eda un fuerte mensaje que confirma que la lucha por la justicia medioambiental es, de hecho, una lucha por los derechos humanos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FI continuar\u00e1 trabajando estrechamente con los franciscanos y otros socios de todo el mundo abogando por la aplicaci\u00f3n plena y concreta de este derecho como base para unas pol\u00edticas medioambientales m\u00e1s justas y eficaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Se trata de una traducci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica.
