A Franciscans International congratula-se com o apoio de 161 Estados a esta resolu\u00e7\u00e3o, que afirma que um ambiente saud\u00e1vel \u00e9 de facto um direito humano que deve ser protegido e garantido a todos sem discrimina\u00e7\u00e3o. Este \u00e9 um passo importante em direc\u00e7\u00e3o a esfor\u00e7os internacionais e nacionais mais fortes para ajudar a preservar o ambiente em todo o mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;O reconhecimento universal de um ambiente limpo, saud\u00e1vel e sustent\u00e1vel constitui uma resposta poderosa e eficaz que, esperamos, catalise mudan\u00e7as transformadoras nas nossas sociedades, nomeadamente atrav\u00e9s da cria\u00e7\u00e3o de uma mudan\u00e7a de paradigma sobre o que deve ser a nossa rela\u00e7\u00e3o com o ambiente e os ecossistemas&#8221;, afirmou a Embaixadora Maritza Chan Valverde da Costa Rica, que apresentou a resolu\u00e7\u00e3o. Ela tamb\u00e9m expressou a esperan\u00e7a de que o reconhecimento universal contribua para melhorar os resultados ambientais dos Estados que j\u00e1 consagraram esse direito na sua legisla\u00e7\u00e3o interna e forne\u00e7a um ponto de partida para mudan\u00e7as constitucionais e legislativas nos Estados que n\u00e3o o fizeram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Com a sua decis\u00e3o, a Assembleia Geral tamb\u00e9m reafirmou uma <a href=\"https:\/\/franciscansinternational.org\/blog\/two-landmark-decisions-on-the-environment-at-the-united-nations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resolu\u00e7\u00e3o de outubro de 2021<\/a> do Conselho de Direitos Humanos da ONU, que reconheceu formalmente este direito pela primeira vez a n\u00edvel internacional. No entanto, sendo a Assembleia Geral o \u00fanico \u00f3rg\u00e3o da ONU em que todos os Estados-Membros t\u00eam representa\u00e7\u00e3o igual, a vota\u00e7\u00e3o de hoje tem um significado adicional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Esta decis\u00e3o \u00e9 verdadeiramente hist\u00f3rica. No entanto, tamb\u00e9m j\u00e1 devia ter sido tomada h\u00e1 muito tempo e surge numa altura em que todos os sinais de alerta est\u00e3o no vermelho e em que estamos rapidamente a ficar sem op\u00e7\u00f5es para evitar uma cat\u00e1strofe ambiental global&#8221;, afirmou Sandra Epal-Ratjen, Directora Internacional de Advocacia da FI. &#8220;\u00c9 agora ineg\u00e1vel que o direito a um ambiente limpo, saud\u00e1vel e sustent\u00e1vel \u00e9 um direito humano que deve ser usufru\u00eddo por todos. Ap\u00f3s esta vota\u00e7\u00e3o, todos os Estados devem comprometer-se com a sua realiza\u00e7\u00e3o&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O reconhecimento do direito a um ambiente saud\u00e1vel surge ap\u00f3s <a href=\"https:\/\/franciscansinternational.org\/blog\/working-toward-environmental-justice-at-the-united-nations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">uma longa e sustentada campanha internacional de sensibiliza\u00e7\u00e3o<\/a> levada a cabo por amplas coliga\u00e7\u00f5es e segue os apelos de <a href=\"https:\/\/franciscansinternational.org\/blog\/the-time-is-now-recognize-the-right-to-a-safe-clean-healthy-and-sustainable-environment\/\">mais de 1.350 organiza\u00e7\u00f5es<\/a> da sociedade civil, povos ind\u00edgenas, movimentos sociais e comunidades locais. A decis\u00e3o da Assembleia Geral tamb\u00e9m envia uma mensagem forte, confirmando que a luta pela justi\u00e7a ambiental \u00e9, de facto, uma luta pelos direitos humanos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A FI continuar\u00e1 a trabalhar em estreita colabora\u00e7\u00e3o com os franciscanos e outros parceiros em todo o mundo, defendendo a implementa\u00e7\u00e3o plena e concreta deste direito como base para pol\u00edticas ambientais mais justas e eficazes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Esta \u00e9 uma tradu\u00e7\u00e3o autom\u00e1tica.
